Multiple primary cancers (MPC) are defined as two or more cancers, with no subordinate relationship occurring either simultaneously or not in the same patient. Multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) were initially described by Billroth in 1889 and later defined by Warren and Gates as the presence of at least two unrelated primary malignancies in a single patient. Multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) are present when each tumor is histologically unrelated to the others.
